Life Update: New Job

Making Changes

Making big, life altering decisions is never easy.

Recently, I have found myself applying for a new job.

I have been in my current job for seven years and the thought of having to start over again from scratch both terrifies and excites me.

I was beginning to become far too comfortable in my current job to the point where every day seemed very mundane and I felt I could do the job with my eyes closed. As much as I love my job, customers and colleagues, I felt that I needed some excitement back and the only way I was going to get that was from somewhere else.

I applied for my new job on Friday the 1st September, went for an interview on Saturday the 2nd and had my trial day on the 3rd.

All in all it was a very quick process.

My new job is at my local garden centre where I will be Front of House in the Restaurant. This is something that I have never done before and on my trail day I found myself becoming quite flustered as Sunday’s are the busiest days as they offer a Sunday Roast and people come from far and wide as a Sunday treat. I perceived, grit my teeth and smiled through the shift and was exhausted when I got home. Thankfully as stressful as the day was I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

As tired and flustered as I was I went back for my second shift today, took into consideration where I went wrong last week and what I could have done better and worked with that to improve myself and my skills.

I am the type of person who irritatingly asks a lot of questions because I would rather do things the right way rather than wing it on my own and get things wrong. I like to know exactly what has to be done and when. If I don’t know these things, I start to panic and that;s when I start making mistakes.

Luckily for me, everybody seems really friendly and they are very patient with me.

Hopefully in a few weeks I will have settled in nicely and feel a little bit more relaxed.

I hope you enjoyed this little life update.

Take Care and I’ll speak to you soon =)

Remember Me?…

Well this is awkward…

Remember me?

My name is Ashleigh and I am the worst blogger in the world…

Hello everybody and welcome back.

Today I’m here for a little chat with you just to explain where I have been and what I have been up to and why I decided to take a break from blogging.

Real Talk

I have had blogs in the past and posted for a few months then got bored of them because it was too time consuming, I couldn’t find the time to sit and write, blah, blah, blah… excuses and more just because I couldn’t be bothered.

When I started this blog back in November, I promised myself that this time would be different and I have to admit to myself, I really was doing really well until it began feeling like a chore.

I began really struggling to create content that I was happy with and had endless drafts saved but when I began reading  through them properly, I ended up deleting them simple because I don’t ever want to post something that I am not 100% happy with. It wouldn’t be fair on myself and it wouldn’t be fair on you as a reader so I decided to take a break, collect my brain a little bit and decide what I truly want this blog to be about. What I want my brand to be.

Since myself and my partner are saving up to buy our first family home, money has been very tight so I haven’t really been buying any new products to share reviews, I have just been sticking to my old reliable brands… Yes how boring!!

Tying in with the saving for a house; I have been extremely busy at work and taking any overtime I can fit into my days which means I have been home a lot less and when I am at home, I just want to spend time with Leland. He is starting school full time in September so this next month or so is going to be precious to me.

With all this being said, I have been able to take some time and be with my family and friends. We have had some lovely days/evenings out over the past few months while I have been away.

In May, my beautiful friend from school got married and myself and two of my bestest friends attended the night do ❤

Also in May, we took a trip to York for tea and cocktails to celebrate my best friends birthday.

We have had plenty of park trips with Leland

Leland also turned 4 ❤

which lead to a birthday money spending spree…

We also attended Howden show earlier this month.

All in all, I have enjoyed my little break but as from August… I will be back to a regular posting schedule. I haven’t quite worked it out yet, but I am working on the finishing touches and already have some post scheduled for early august!

Take care and speak soon ❤

Mummy Dates Project 2017 #6

Hello Everybody and welcome back to my Mummy Dates Project 2017.

On Friday when I picked Leland up from school at lunch time were ‘Mummy can we go to the beach?’… Who was I to say no. His behaviour had been incredible considering it was his first week back after half term. He’s usually a grumpy, tired threenager.

After a quick lunch at home we got in the car and took a trip to Bridlington for the afternoon.

We parked at the South Beach Park and Ride car park but decided to walk the two miles along the sea front into Bridlington.

A kind lady walking a dog stopped me and told me that if we hung around for a few minutes that the life boat was going to be launched.

Leland was so excited when he saw the life boat and all the crew working to get it safely down the ramp across the beach and into the sea.

When we reached the amusement area we stopped for an Ice-cream for me and a slush for Leland as we’d been very warm during our walk.

Once we’d cooled down we had a wander around the amusements and spent Leland’s bag of 2p’s that he had been saving. We managed to earn enough tickets for a bubble wand and a paw patrol chocolate egg.

After the amusements, we bought a bucket and spade and took a slow walk back to the car along the beach.

We made sandcastles and collected shells along the way  as well as having a paddle in the sea.

After walking over four miles, it was safe to say that Leland was excited to get back in the car for a rest.

We had such a fantastic time at the beach and Leland told me on the way home that he is looking forward to going again after his birthday in a few weeks.

I hope you enjoyed this little entry =)

Take care and speak soon ❤

Mummy Dates Project 2017 #5

Hello Everybody and welcome back to another Mummy Dates Projects post.

On Saturday 18th March, sticking with Leland’s favourite theme lately, we decided it was finally time to make the trip to Thomas Land at Drayton Manor.

I had managed to keep this trip a complete secret and told everybody not to mention it to him. We live almost two and a half hours away from Drayton Manor so Leland managed to have a nap in the car, waking up about ten minutes before we drove through the front gates.

He was so so excited when he realised where we were and kept telling me how happy he was.

The main park itself was closed but Thomas Land and the Zoo were still open to the public.

Waving to Thomas

We enjoyed a walk around the Zoo before heading into Thomas Land.

After the Zoo we visited the Train themed adventure playground and Leland had a good run around while I stopped for a coffee.

Once inside Thomas land it was so busy that I hardly managed to get any pictures of Leland, but we played hook a duck and won some little prizes. We had a good wander around the rides but as Leland was recovering from a cold he wasn’t in the mood to be too adventurous.

Gloomy Weather

Leland went and had his picture taken so that he could receive his ‘Train Drivers Licence’

Even though the weather was gloomy, we got rained on and Leland was recovering from a cold, we still managed to have a fun filled day looking at the different animals in the zoo, having a wander around all the different rides and enjoying hot dogs for lunch.

I would 100% go back when the weather is a bit warmer and hope that Leland doesn’t get poorly a few days before we go again.

The main thing is that Leland enjoyed himself and he has asked to go back several times.

Prizes and Toy Shop Purchase

I hope you enjoyed this little entry to our Mummy Dates project.

We are currently trying to decide on a few places to go this half term, but Leland hasn’t decided on where he would like to go just yet. We will keep you posted though when we go =)

As always, take care and speak soon

A Steamy Train Ride | February 2017

Stocking Fillers

Hello Everybody and welcome back.

Sorry I have been away for the past month or so but I have had a lot going on in my personal life that I may on may not discuss in the near future, but just know I’m alright and I am back now =)

On Friday 24th February, we took a trip back to the National Railway Museum  since I had promised Leland that we would go back during half term for a ride on the Flying Scotsman. I was also looking after my cousin Max that day so we decided we would go rather than being stuck inside on a gloomy day.

We arrived at the museum and made our way outside where we purchased our tickets to ride and waited in line.

Leland was so exited when he saw it pulling into the station to drop off the previous passengers.

Once we took our places standing up, the ride only lasted around 10 minutes, but the look on Leland’s face made it all worth it.

Ashy Moustache

He was so excited and wittered the whole time, reeling off random facts about the Flying Scotman and how steam engines work, pointing out bits and pieces along the way.

After our train ride, we went back inside where the kids made their very own Flying Scotman which was a lot harder than it looked.

We finished off the day with a stop off at KFC for tea seeing as both Leland and Max had been well behaved.

All in all, we all really enjoyed our day out. Max was very excited to get home and tell his mum all about his day.

I hope you enjoyed this post.

Keep your eyes peeled for more posts this week =)

As always take care

Mummy Dates Project 2017 #4

Hello Everybody and welcome back to Mummy Dates Project 2017!

This week, we decided to get wrapped up, brave the cold and get some fresh air by going for a walk in the woods.

Leland and Rufus ready for a bear hunt

We drove around 30 minutes from where we live to Beverley Westwood  and began our woodland adventure.

Two minutes in, lost already

Leland decided which route we would take, most of them only being big enough for him to squeeze though. There is no real trail inside the woods, so we kind of made our own way up as we went along.

At first our adventure began as a bear hunt, which quickly changed to looking for the Gruffalo, then finally we went in search of the Trolls Tree.

Naughty Rufus hiding in a tree

We spent around an hour wandering around, not seeing another person the whole time.

Leland absolutely loved seeing all the fallen trees, finding mushrooms and looking at all of the moss and fungus that grew on some of the trees. We found little dens people had made from branches and we found lots of birds nests.

Chilling in a tree
Taking a break

We both really enjoyed our walk out in the woods and it tired Leland out for bedtime =)

One boy and his bear ❤

I hope you have enjoyed this little entry.

Let me know in the comments if you have any ideas of where else we can go on an adventure.
